Biography

H.E. PHENG Sam Oeun graduated a bachelor degree in archaeology in Phnom Penh in 1998. From 2004 to 2006, pursued his master degree in the field of research and community development in Thailand. Besides, he also attended many training program on cultural heritage site management, conservation and research organized by national and international institutions in Cambodia and in Asia counties. 

In 2000, H.E. PHENG Sam Oeun has started his archaeological career with the Authority for the Protection and Management the Site and the Region of Siem Reap Angkor (APSARA). In 2002, he was employed as government staff of the Ministry of Culture and Find Arts until 2006 he moved to work for National Authority for Safeguarding and Development of the Preah Vihear Natural and Cultural Site (NAPV) at Preah Vhear world heritage site.

From 2009 to 2021, H.E. PHENG Sam Oeun was promoted as Director of the Department of Monument and Archaeology of NAPV, and in July 2021, he has been appointed as Deputy Director General of NAPV in charge of the Koh Ker Archaeological site.
