Biography
Mr. Chheang Pisal was born in 1992 at Kampong Cham province. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Technology and Management from the Royal University of Agriculture in 2016. In 2014, he was selected as an intern student in Israel for 11 months, specializing in horticulture.
Mr. Chheang Pisal completed his master's degree in Botany from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in the People's Republic of China in 2022. During his master's studies, he conducted research in his field at the South China Botanical Garden and published his findings in an international scientific journal. Additionally, he attended several important training courses, including botanical garden development and management, DNA analysis of insects and plants, brood pollination mutualism, plant specimen collection and preparation, plant molecular biology, non-timber forest products, agroforestry, and project management.
Mr. Chheang Pisal started his career at the National Authority for Preah Vihear in early 2017, focusing on horticulture and nursery management. In 2022, he was nominated as Deputy Director of the Department of Environment, Forestry, and Water, and in 2025, he was promoted to Director of the Department. His responsibilities include management and conservation of natural resources, biodiversity, forest ecosystems, cultural and natural landscapes, environment, and water resource development within the Preah Vihear and Koh Ker World Heritage sites.
