The causeway (Preah Thnal) between the Gopura IV and V is 300 meters long, the longest of the causeways and has 134 lotus shaped pillars on both sides. Currently, parts of the causeway are damaged, and most lotus shaped pillars have collapsed and lost much of their definition to nature, age, and human action. Since 2010, the National Authority for Preah Vihear has planned to preserve and restore the lotus shaped pillars to prevent their decay and improve the aesthetics of the causeway. The work completed from 2010 to 2022 includes: surveying the entire architectural plan of causeway, photographing photogrammetry, registering all pieces of lotus shaped pillars, risk maping to assess the damage to the causeway, and preparing the work plans. 56 lotus shaped pillars have been preserved and restored. The restoration revives the causeway, especially the lotus shaped pillars next to the Gopura IV.
